In BLEACH, one of the most important elements when discussing a character’s power is Reiatsu, or Spiritual Pressure.
Some characters can immobilize opponents simply through overwhelming Reiatsu.
Others possess so much Spiritual Pressure that weaker souls cannot even survive near them.
There are even characters who reach such a high level that others can no longer sense their Reiatsu at all.
However,
the strongest character in battle does not necessarily have the highest Reiatsu.
Many characters in BLEACH are incredibly powerful because of special abilities, matchups, or unique techniques, so the criteria for a “strongest character ranking” and a “Reiatsu ranking” are not exactly the same.
For this ranking, I focused on one question:
“Whose Reiatsu was portrayed as the most extraordinary in the series?”
There are no official numerical values or official rankings for Reiatsu.
This article considers dialogue from the series, the effects of Reiatsu on the surrounding environment, the reactions of other characters, the scale of spiritual power, and other portrayals.
However, my own interpretation and personal judgment are also part of the ranking, especially when deciding which portrayals should be given more weight.
Therefore, this is not an officially established Reiatsu ranking. It should be viewed as my personal ranking based on the portrayals and information shown throughout BLEACH.
In addition to the original manga, this ranking also considers additional material from the BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War anime and the official novels BLEACH: Spirits Are Forever With You and BLEACH: Can’t Fear Your Own World.
The following factors were given particular importance:
The character’s Reiatsu or spiritual power is clearly portrayed as exceptionally large
Their Reiatsu alone has a major effect on other characters or their surroundings
Other characters directly comment on the unusual level of their Reiatsu
There are portrayals that allow the density, scale, or quality of their Reiatsu to be compared
Each character is evaluated at the highest level they reached in the series
On the other hand, even if a character possesses an extremely powerful special ability, I lowered their ranking—or excluded them entirely—if there were relatively few clear portrayals of their Reiatsu itself.
Another important point is that there are no official numerical values for Reiatsu.
Therefore,
“How much should this particular scene count as evidence of Reiatsu?”
can change the final ranking.
For example, there is room for interpretation regarding how much the effect of a Bankai on the worlds should be considered pure Reiatsu, or how much power absorbed from the Soul King should be counted as the character’s own Spiritual Pressure.
Rather than hiding these uncertainties, I will explain how I personally interpreted them throughout the ranking.
The same character also appears only once in the TOP 10.
Do Quincies Have Reiatsu?
Yes.
Quincies specialize in gathering and using Reishi from their surroundings, but this does not mean that Quincies do not possess Reiatsu.
Official material for the Thousand-Year Blood War anime also refers to the Reiatsu of both Soul Reapers and Quincies.
However, this ranking does not attempt to select an equal number of Soul Reapers, Hollows, and Quincies.
Instead, I prioritized characters who had particularly memorable and comparatively clear portrayals of Reiatsu.
As a result, Soul Reapers and Arrancars make up a relatively large portion of the ranking.

※This is not an official ranking. It is my personal evaluation based on portrayals throughout the series. Many of the highest-ranking characters are never directly compared, so different interpretations and rankings are completely reasonable.
No. 10: Ulquiorra Cifer｜The Abnormal Reiatsu of Segunda Etapa

No. 10 is Ulquiorra Cifer.
The form being evaluated here is not his normal Resurrección, but Resurrección: Segunda Etapa.
When Ulquiorra enters Segunda Etapa, it is not simply his attack power that increases.
His Reiatsu itself is portrayed as something abnormal.
Uryu Ishida is also shocked by the enormous scale and density of the Spiritual Pressure he senses.
Ulquiorra is ranked No. 4 among the Espada, but Segunda Etapa is difficult to evaluate purely through his official Espada number.
In this ranking, I placed significant weight on the fact that another character directly recognized his Reiatsu itself as something extraordinary.
However, there is no direct Reiatsu comparison between Segunda Etapa Ulquiorra and characters such as Starrk or Cien.
For that reason, my own interpretation also plays a role in placing him at No. 10.
No. 9: Coyote Starrk｜His Reiatsu Alone Killed the Hollows Around Him

No. 9 is the Primera Espada, Coyote Starrk.
Starrk is particularly easy to evaluate under the criteria used for this ranking.
The reason is that his Reiatsu was so powerful that weaker Hollows around him died simply from being near him.
The overwhelming power that left Starrk isolated from others was also connected to the existence of Starrk and Lilynette as two separate beings.
If this were a ranking based on overall battle strength, Starrk’s position could be debated based on his abilities and actual performances.
However,
“How strongly did the character’s Reiatsu itself affect those around them?”
is one of the main criteria here.
For that reason, I believe Starrk deserves a place in the TOP 10.
No. 8: Cien Grantz｜Reiatsu on a Scale Beyond Yammy

No. 8 is Cien Grantz, who appears in the official novel BLEACH: Spirits Are Forever With You.
One important distinction is that Cien is not Szayelaporro Grantz himself.
He is deeply connected to Szayelaporro, but to avoid confusing their identities and backgrounds, this ranking evaluates Cien as his own character.
In SAFWY, Cien is portrayed as possessing Reiatsu on a scale greater than that of Yammy after Resurrección.
The existence of an actual comparison with another character’s Reiatsu is especially valuable for this ranking.
Cien is also extremely important when discussing the power associated with Szayelaporro before he became the Espada most readers know from the main series.
Some readers may disagree with placing a novel-exclusive character alongside characters from the manga.
However, because this ranking explicitly includes the official novels, I have ranked Cien at No. 8.
No. 7: Hikone Ubuginu｜A Unique Being With Multiple Types of Spiritual Power

No. 7 is Hikone Ubuginu, who appears in BLEACH: Can’t Fear Your Own World.
Hikone is an extremely unusual existence containing elements associated with Soul Reapers, Hollows, Quincies, and other spiritual beings.
Near the end of CFYOW, Hikone reaches a level where a confrontation with Kenpachi Zaraki becomes possible.
Like Ichigo, Hikone is notable because different types of spiritual power are combined within a single existence.
However, I am not ranking Hikone highly simply because:
“Having the power of multiple races automatically means higher Reiatsu.”
Instead, the ranking considers the spiritual power and combat portrayals presented in the novel.
Even then, when comparing Hikone with Kenpachi, I personally consider Kenpachi to be one level above.
For that reason, Hikone is No. 7.
No. 6: Kenpachi Zaraki｜A Monster Whose Reiatsu Itself Is a Weapon

No. 6 is Kenpachi Zaraki.
Few characters in BLEACH have had the abnormal nature of their Reiatsu portrayed as consistently and clearly as Kenpachi.
During the Soul Society arc, Ichigo is initially unable to cut Kenpachi because of the difference in their Reiatsu.
It is one of the clearest early examples of how terrifying a large difference in Spiritual Pressure can be in the world of BLEACH.
Kenpachi’s eyepatch is also not merely decorative.
It deliberately consumes his spiritual power in order to suppress him.
During the Thousand-Year Blood War, his battle with Retsu Unohana gradually allows Kenpachi to recover the power he had unconsciously suppressed within himself.
In other words, Kenpachi is a character whose strength is built heavily around:
enormous spiritual power and Reiatsu rather than complicated special abilities.
There is certainly room for debate over whether Kenpachi should be above Senjumaru at No. 5.
If I considered only the most direct portrayals of Reiatsu, I think placing Kenpachi at No. 5 would also be completely reasonable.
For this ranking, however, I gave a slight advantage to the world-scale impact shown by Senjumaru in the Thousand-Year Blood War anime and placed Kenpachi at No. 6.
No. 5: Senjumaru Shutara｜Power That Reaches Across the Three Worlds

No. 5 is Senjumaru Shutara of Squad Zero.
If this ranking were based only on the original manga, I probably would not have placed her this high.
However, the additional Squad Zero material in the BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War anime significantly changes her evaluation.
The four members of Squad Zero are restricted by a Blood Oath Seal because releasing their true Bankai power would have an impact across the Three Worlds.
When Senjumaru releases this restriction and activates her Bankai, the effects of that power are portrayed on a scale that reaches across the worlds.
However, there is an important issue of interpretation here.
Should the impact across the Three Worlds be treated purely as:
Senjumaru’s own Reiatsu
or as the overall effect of her released power, including her Bankai?
Personally, I believe the latter also plays a role.
For that reason, I did not place her above Yamamoto or Aizen solely because of the world-scale portrayal.
I ranked her No. 5.
This is one of the positions in the TOP 10 where different interpretations are particularly reasonable.
No. 4: Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto｜Reiatsu So Powerful It Appears Like Flames

No. 4 is Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto, the original Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13.
Even in his normal state, Yamamoto possesses overwhelming Reiatsu.
His Spiritual Pressure alone can overwhelm significantly weaker characters to the point where they struggle to move.
When he activates his Bankai, Zanka no Tachi, the power surrounding him reaches a level where his enormous Reiatsu appears almost like flames.
Maintaining his Bankai for too long could place Soul Society itself in danger.
Of course, the heat generated by Zanka no Tachi cannot simply be treated as exactly the same thing as Yamamoto’s Reiatsu.
Even so, I placed great importance on how consistently the overwhelming nature of his Spiritual Pressure is portrayed, both in his normal state and while using Bankai.
In my interpretation, Yamamoto belongs among the very highest Soul Reapers when evaluating Reiatsu itself.
No. 3: Sosuke Aizen｜A Being on an Entirely Different “Dimension” of Reiatsu

No. 3 is Sosuke Aizen.
Few characters are more closely associated with the concept of Reiatsu than Aizen.
Even before his transformations, Aizen possessed Spiritual Pressure far beyond that of ordinary captain-class Soul Reapers.
After repeatedly evolving through the Hogyoku, however, he reached an even higher level.
At that stage, ordinary humans could not withstand merely approaching him.
More importantly, BLEACH introduces the idea of different “dimensions” of Reiatsu through Aizen’s evolution.
Aizen reaches a level where normal Soul Reapers can no longer sense his Reiatsu.
Later, however, even Aizen himself becomes unable to sense the Reiatsu of Ichigo after his Dangai training.
This is also one of the most important reasons behind my decision to rank Mugetsu Ichigo at No. 1.
Even during the Thousand-Year Blood War, Aizen remains an existence with extraordinary Reiatsu despite being heavily restrained.
Personally, I place great importance not only on the amount of Aizen’s Reiatsu, but also on the fact that its quality and “dimension” itself are portrayed as having changed.
No. 2: Yhwach｜An Extraordinary Existence After Absorbing the Soul King

No. 2 is Yhwach after absorbing the Soul King.
Near the end of the series, Yhwach absorbs the Soul King and Mimihagi, becoming an existence far beyond his previous state.
After absorbing the Soul King, the enormous power inside him is portrayed as overflowing from his body and spreading across his surroundings.
Even after his death, remnants of his Reiatsu remain.
However, this also creates an important question of interpretation.
It would not be accurate to treat all of the power overflowing from Yhwach after the absorption as:
“Reiatsu Yhwach originally possessed himself.”
In this ranking, however, I evaluate each character at the highest state they actually reached.
Therefore, Yhwach after absorbing the Soul King is included as his ultimate form.
There are certainly other valid ways to interpret this criterion.
There is also no direct comparison between this Yhwach and Mugetsu Ichigo at No. 1.
Therefore, I am not claiming that Yhwach is objectively and unquestionably No. 2.
No. 2 is my personal evaluation.
No. 1: Ichigo Kurosaki｜The Highest Point From Dangai Training to Mugetsu

No. 1 is Ichigo Kurosaki.
The version being evaluated is Ichigo after his Dangai training, leading into the Final Getsuga Tensho and Mugetsu.
Of all the positions in this ranking, this is the one where my personal interpretation and subjective judgment play the largest role.
After repeatedly evolving through the Hogyoku, Aizen had reached a level so high that ordinary Soul Reapers could no longer sense his Reiatsu.
However, when Ichigo returned from his Dangai training, the situation was reversed.
Now Aizen could no longer sense Ichigo’s Reiatsu.
At first, Aizen assumes that Ichigo must have sacrificed his Reiatsu in exchange for physical strength.
As the battle progresses, however, he realizes that Ichigo may have reached a level even higher than his own.
Ichigo then goes even further by using the Final Getsuga Tensho.
He becomes Getsuga itself and unleashes his final technique, Mugetsu.
The price is so extreme that Ichigo eventually loses his Soul Reaper powers.
One point must be made very clear:
The series never officially states that Mugetsu Ichigo possesses the highest Reiatsu in all of BLEACH.
There is also no direct comparison between Mugetsu Ichigo, Soul King-absorbed Yhwach, or Ichigo at the end of the Thousand-Year Blood War.
Even so, I placed Ichigo at No. 1 because the sequence in which he reaches a level that even transcendent Aizen cannot sense—and then goes even further with the Final Getsuga Tensho—felt to me like the clearest moment in the series where the very level of Reiatsu itself had moved into another dimension.
Therefore,
ranking Soul King-absorbed Yhwach at No. 1
is also a completely reasonable interpretation.
Taking that into account, my personal interpretation places Ichigo at the point of Mugetsu at No. 1.
What About Ichigo at the End of the Thousand-Year Blood War?
This ranking allows each character only one position, so Ichigo does not appear again.
If I treated different forms of Ichigo as separate entries, my personal ranking would be approximately:
1. Ichigo after Dangai Training – Mugetsu 2. Yhwach after Absorbing the Soul King 3. Ichigo at the End of the Thousand-Year Blood War
Again, this is not an official ranking. It is simply my interpretation.
Ichigo’s different forms could easily support an entire separate article discussing which version of him was the strongest.

Why Aren’t Ichibe, Gerard, and Lille in the TOP 10?
Some readers may be surprised that characters such as Ichibe Hyosube, Gerard Valkyrie, and Lille Barro are not included.
All of them belong among the strongest characters in the series.
Ichibe in particular is the effective leader of Squad Zero and possesses extraordinary abilities related to names and the color black.
However, one of the main principles of this ranking was to avoid the assumption that:
“This character is extremely strong, so their Reiatsu must automatically be extremely high.”
There is little doubt about Ichibe’s overall power.
However, compared with characters such as Yamamoto, Kenpachi, and Starrk, I believe there are fewer direct portrayals that allow the sheer size and environmental impact of Ichibe’s Reiatsu itself to be evaluated.
The same applies to Gerard and Lille.
I tried to separate the extraordinary nature of their abilities from direct portrayals of their Reiatsu as much as possible.
Of course,
“There is no way someone as powerful as Ichibe should be outside the TOP 10.”
is also a perfectly understandable interpretation.
His exclusion is a result of this particular ranking prioritizing clear Reiatsu portrayals over overall combat strength.
Characters Who Narrowly Missed the TOP 10
Yammy Llargo
Yammy is an especially interesting candidate for a Reiatsu ranking because he accumulates spiritual power and eventually becomes Espada No. 0 after his Resurrección.
However, once SAFWY is included, Cien provides an even stronger example of overwhelming Reiatsu.
Considering the overall balance of the TOP 10, I chose Cien instead.
Ichibe Hyosube
In terms of overall combat strength, Ichibe is one of the strongest candidates in the entire series.
However, a significant part of what makes him terrifying comes from the extraordinary nature of Ichimonji and his other abilities.
Because this ranking prioritizes direct portrayals of Reiatsu, I left him outside the TOP 10.
Soya Azashiro
Soya Azashiro is the Eighth Kenpachi who appears in Spirits Are Forever With You.
He is an extremely dangerous character with an extraordinary Zanpakuto ability.
However, under the specific criteria used here—especially direct portrayals that make Reiatsu itself easier to compare—I ranked characters such as Cien above him.
Jushiro Ukitake
Ukitake is an experienced captain who possesses extremely high spiritual power.
However, in the Thousand-Year Blood War, the existence of Mimihagi within his body becomes extremely important.
Because it is difficult to determine exactly how much of that power should be treated as Ukitake’s own Reiatsu, I left him outside the TOP 10.
“Strength” and “Reiatsu” Are Not the Same Thing
The most important point in this ranking is that:
“Reiatsu ranking” does not equal “strongest character ranking.”
For example, when special abilities are included, Ichibe is one of the strongest characters in the entire series.
Starrk, on the other hand, has an extremely clear Reiatsu-related portrayal:
His Spiritual Pressure was so powerful that weaker Hollows around him died.
Ulquiorra’s Reiatsu in Segunda Etapa is also portrayed as something abnormal in itself.
That is why a Reiatsu ranking can produce a very different group of characters from a typical strongest-character ranking.
There are also no official numerical statistics for Reiatsu.
Therefore,
the ranking can change depending on which portrayals a reader considers most important.
Although I tried to base this ranking on actual portrayals throughout BLEACH as much as possible, the final order also reflects my own impressions and interpretation as a reader of the series.

My No. 1 choice is Ichigo Kurosaki from after his Dangai training through the Final Getsuga Tensho and Mugetsu.
However, this is not an official ranking.
There is no direct Reiatsu comparison with Soul King-absorbed Yhwach, and there are no official numerical values that allow the Reiatsu of top-level characters such as end-of-series Ichigo and Aizen to be compared objectively.
Therefore, interpretations such as:
Yhwach should be No. 1
Thousand-Year Blood War Ichigo has the highest Reiatsu
Aizen has the more impressive Reiatsu portrayals
are all completely reasonable.
This TOP 10 is ultimately my personal ranking, based primarily on portrayals of Reiatsu throughout the series while also incorporating my own subjective interpretation.
Personally, the moment when Ichigo reached a level that even Aizen could no longer sense—and then went even further into Mugetsu—was the scene that most strongly made me feel that his Reiatsu had reached an entirely different dimension.

“This character’s Reiatsu is on another level”?
The fact that there is no single definitive answer is also part of what makes discussing BLEACH so interesting.
